The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has published an inquiry into the poultry sector in Zambia.
According to the inquiry, anti-competitive conduct in the poultry sector in Zambia is costing vulnerable consumers and small producer at least USD 20 million more each year than if markets worked correctly. This undermines efforts to boost the productivity and incomes of independent poultry producers and ensure affordable and nutritious animal-source proteins for poor consumers.
This work benefitted from the support of the Shamba Centre for Food & Climate.
